Nesting into part cutouts
A roof with a sunroof leaves over a square metre of film doing nothing. Switch on "Use part cutouts" before a run and the packer treats that opening as material. Measured on a 147-part Bentley Bentayga kit: 19 parts placed inside one cutout, 1.01 m² of film reclaimed. Off by default, because not every job wants parts inside other parts.
Autonest is twice as fast and packs tighter
Candidate positions now come from how far a part's material actually reaches in each row, not from its bounding rectangle — which is why the pocket beside a bumper used to stay empty. Škoda Kodiaq: 13.78 m → 13.04 m over four sheets. A plotter run is now priced at 500 mm of film, so the packer stops giving one away to save a millimetre.
Illustrator files open
.ai templates exported from CorelDRAW carry their artwork in Illustrator's private stream, which is why they used to arrive empty. Studio reads it now, and the same parser opens .eps. Verified against the SVG of the same kit: identical part count, worst deviation 6 µm.
EPS 8.0 export for Roland CutStudio
And inner cutouts stay attached to their part in EPS and DXF — ungrouping in CorelDRAW no longer scatters door-handle holes across the page.
Studio runs on a phone
Pinch to zoom, drag to move, press and hold for the menu, 48 px targets for gloved hands. Node editing and cut lines included, not a view-only mode.
Reduce nodes is a tool
Select any number of parts, drag one slider, watch the nodes disappear. 3,566 → 2,322 on the demo kit, with a keep-shape guard that is measured rather than promised.
